We have arrived in Vietnam! The drive from the airport in minibuses was interesting. The road rules here appear to be...blow your horn and push your way. There are many, many motorbikes, and we saw several with 4 people on them; women riding side saddle; little tiny kids held in their parents' arms, or propped up on the front; 2 people on one bike with a huge suitcase wedged between them....scary stuff.
We walked to Vy's kitchen, which is a restaurant/cooking
school near our hotel in Hoi An. We all made a rice paper roll, marinated
chicken in delicious spices for barbecuing later, and made a crunchy pancake.
Most of us liked these flavours; some were not so keen.
Vy's kitchen had a section for Weird and Wonderful food. Anyone for spicy lemongrass frog, black pepper steamed pig brain, silk worm salad, or braised offal in five spice sauce, with what looked like a pig snout sticking up in the middle? No. We didn't fancy it either.
