Day 4: What can you buy?

Today we ventured out into the wilds of Kowloon.

We rode on the Peak Tram to the top of Victoria Peak, and enjoyed breathtaking vistas. Some of us were so excited by the views that we had to dance.

Our guide, Alex, was hilarious and knowledgeable, and regaled us with many tales of Hong Kong history and life.

We rode on a boat through Aberdeen fishing village. We saw the richest of the rich high rises and boats, and then little poor boat houses, some of which had air conditioners attached, or dogs on board, and washing machines on the deck.

Next stop was Stanley markets, where we parted with much money very quickly on hats, t shirts, happy pants, waving cats and jewellery.

After our tour ended we were able to experience walking a few of the streets of Kowloon, looking at the washing hanging out of high rise windows, and wondering how many forgotten items from pockets fell to their demise onto the streets below. Mr Conoulty, our fearless leader, bravely led us back to Crossroads on public transport
